Etherealization Guide
How to use duplicate units to unlock powerful passives and maximize your team's potential.
What is Etherealization?
Etherealization is UTD's duplicate unit system. Instead of selling duplicate units for gold, you merge them with your main copy to increase its Ethereal Level (E1-E6). Each level unlocks new passives and stat bonuses.
NEVER Sell Mythic Duplicates!
This is the most common beginner mistake. Selling a Mythic duplicate for a tiny amount of gold wastes its true value - an Ethereal level that unlocks permanent power.

- ✓Etherealizing a dupe: Permanent passive unlock + stat boost

Total copies needed: 6 duplicates + 1 original = 7 units
Etherealization Priority
Speed Cart
Increases money generation per wave
NEVER sell Speed Cart duplicates. Each Ethereal level = more income = faster scaling in battles.
Max Benefit: +50% money at E6Virtual Idol
Increases buff potency and range
Her buffs affect your entire team. Higher Ethereal = stronger team-wide damage boost.

Summon damage massively increases
Each level dramatically boosts summon damage. Secret unit so dupes are extremely rare.

Enhanced passives, more Vulnerability
Passives scale with Ethereal level. Increased debuff effectiveness.

Burn damage passive unlocks
E6 Ace is much easier to achieve than E6 Scarlet Maid (who needs Ruler trait).

Unlocks additional passive skills
Extra passives boost crit damage and overall DPS. Essential for Virtual Realm.

Enhanced Room teleport
Battle Pass unit - you can only get 2 copies max. Needs 6 dupes for full passives, impossible to max.

Open Unit Menu
Go to your unit inventory and select the unit you want to enhance.
Select Etherealize
Find the Etherealize option (may be in upgrade or enhance menu).
Choose Duplicate
Select a duplicate of the same unit to merge.
Confirm Merge
The duplicate is consumed, and your main unit gains an Ethereal level.
Etherealization Tips
- Speed Cart First
Economy scales everything. More money = more upgrades = faster clears.
- Virtual Idol Second
Her buffs affect your whole team. Higher E-level = team-wide damage boost.
- Focus One Carry
Better to have one E6 carry than three E2 carries. Concentrated power wins.
- Secret Units Are Rare
Sun Jin Wu at 0.006% means E6 is unrealistic. Aim for E1-E2 max.
Known Issues
Some units have problematic Etherealization requirements:
- • Law (Battle Pass): Only 2 copies available, but needs 6 for full passives
- • Sun Jin Wu (0.006%): Needs 7 copies total for E6 - nearly impossible
- • Ragna (2% Challenge drop): 75 runs pity × 7 copies = extremely grindy
These designs have been criticized by the community. Focus on more realistic targets.
